The 2015 edition of the Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair takes place next weekend October 9-11 on the rooftop of Hyde Park Corner in Jozi.

While we’ll most certainly be spending our weekend surrounded by fashion and food (really, what more could a girl ask for?), here are four reasons you should be joining us too:

1. A number of new exhibitors to look out for

While you can still expect all your firm favourites from last year’s exhibit, the Sanlam Contemporary Fair have added some new ones into the mix.

Almond is a print-focused fashion label by designers Nicole Levenberg and Claudia Dougherty. All elements of their garments are locally sourced, produced and designed.

Benji + Moon is an online pet ware store that will be launching at the fair with a beautiful selection of handcrafted designer dog and cat products. They work with local artisans to create, among other things, leather collars, ceramic and wooden bowls, crocheted cat beds, felt dog beds and animal soaps.

2. It’s your fashion and beauty dream come true

Expect to see Simon and Mary, gorgeous leather designs from Missibaba as well as Colony Design and Illundi.

Give your skin the love and care it deserves by popping in at Jesslyn from Lulu & Marula who will be showcasing her organic skincare range. Newcomer Linda  from Suki Suki Naturals has her range of all-natural haircare products for all your natural hair needs. Linda is in actual fact a full-time lawyer as well; check out this interview with her below:

3, It’s gin o’clock every hour on the hour

Allow us to introduce you to the team from Hope on Hopkins – a local distiller of vodka and gin. Hope on Hopkins is based in Salt River and is the Mother City’s first distillery. Find out more about them in this clip below:

4. Your inner foodie has never been more content

If you’re joining us, the Forager pop-up restaurant is a must visit. The team combines the ultimate mixture of food, wine and design to make any eating experience a terrific one. Werner Venter of Forager will be designing the social dining experience and working closely with Culinary Table chef Daniela Gutstadt to educate diners about food, flavours and tastes. Diners will engage with their food on another level at this collaborative stand.
