Singer and pop icon Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park, Minnesota home and was later pronounced dead at 10:07am yesterday. He was only 57 years old. Known as one of the music leading musicians of our time thanks to his innovative sound, Prince touched the entire world through his music, eclectic fashion and flamboyant presence. His career was nothing but legendary:
- He sold over 100 million records worldwide
- He had 27 tours throughout his career since his first Prince Tour in 1979
- Though the singer was renowned in the music industry, he made appearances in a number of TV shows and films, usually playing himself
- He was highly loved and known as a guitar virtuoso. If that wasn’t talent enough, Prince was credited with having played 17 instruments on his debut album
- Throughout his career he received 45 nominations and won 12 awards
- The 12 awards he has won include an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1985 for Purple Rain, a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song in 1985 for I Feel You, and a MTV Video Award for Best Dance Video in 1992 for Cream
- He was inducted in the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 2004
- He has collaborated with fellow music icons such as Chaka Khan and Madonna
- Legendary as his career may have been, his bold fashion sense was just as celebrated!
