A Girl Walks Into A Bar (Jonathan Ball) is finally available for download from Kalahari. You can read all about how Paige Nick made the transition from straight-up chick lit into erotic fiction (or pornography, as she candidly likes to call it) with her two good friends, Helen Moffett and Sarah Lotz,  in the issue of Grazia on shelf now. Our only regret? Calling her fellow porn elf, Helen Moffett, ‘Arty’ instead of ‘Arsey’, which is her actual porn elf name. But we’re even more intrigued to read what the women wrote now…

WHOOP WHOOP! THE NEW BRIDGET JONES COVER!

Whoop whoop. Now we have a visual – thanks to a clever social media campaign that meant Facebook likes emptied a bottle of wine to finally reveal the new Bridget Jones cover. We’ve said it before: we are super excited for the return of Bridget Jones and what the new millennium holds for her. When we last left Bridge she was smoking fags, quaffing too much wine, lusting after Daniel Cleaver, madly in love with Colin Firth (ahem, sorry, Mark Darcy) and settling into another round of post Christmas turkey curry buffet. Happy days, then, that she is returning as a throughly modern woman of the world. The new Bridget still finds herself in London but in this third instalment, she is facing the challenge of maintaing her sex appeal, not to mention the waaay more nightmarish issues of, as the release describes it: “drunken texting, skinny jeans, the disastrous email cc, total lack of Twitter followers and Tvs that need 90 buttons and three remotes to simply turn on.” Bring on October. We cannot wait.
Bridget’s life set in contemporary London, including the challenges of maintaining sex appeal as the years roll by and the nightmare of drunken texting, the skinny jean, the disastrous email cc, total lack of Twitter followers, and TVs that need 90 buttons and three remotes to simply turn on.

HUMANS OF NEW YORK

Brandon Stanton is a New Yorker inspired by the so-called mundane. Every day he walks the streets of New York taking extraordinarily beautiful pictures of ordinary people. He also often asks them a question about their lives and receives sometimes astounding answers. He offers a glimpse into the humming life of the city and the secret lives of those all around us.

These are some of our faves:

YOUR NAME IN SONG!

Theoretically, we’re all guaranteed 15 minutes of fame… But, thanks to Beatenberg, for one lucky fan who a) would love to see them open for Alt-J at Vodacom In The City and b) like to inspire lead singer Matthew to write a 30 second song about them, well, that fame could be guaranteed for eternity!

All you have to do to achieve this is vote at least five times by SMS (‘beatenb’ to 33459), take a screen shot of your votes and then either tweet the screenshot, tagging @Beatenberg_Band ,or post it to Beatenberg’s Facebook wall.

The chosen one will be picked at random and Matthew will post the 30 second song to Youtube for the world (and your loved ones) to hear the day the competition closes on September 16.

Don’t forget, the internet is forever. Hello eternal fame. If that’s not enough incentive, winning will guarantee you a double ticket to Vodacom In The City on October 4 in Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown and Universal Music will also throw in a CD hamper worth R750. Sweet deal.

We have been looking forward to seeing Nicole Kidman play Grace Kelly ever since it was announced that she’d be taking the role, but now seeing the trailer has made us that much more excited. Although we will have to wait until next year for this bio to hit our big screens, we simply had to share this little teaser.
