After the success of Retrofest #1 back in April, original sponsor CALEO Wealth Management found a partner in MINI to bring the second instalment to life. The result? A beautiful afternoon in the lush greenery of the NIROX Sculpture Park in the Cradle of Humankind, listening to the likes of Shotgun Tori, Tidal Waves, Frankie Beagle and Michael Lowman sing their favourite songs from the 60s and 70s. Peace, love and understanding, man.

While Caleo founder and director Nicholas Liebmann’s first desire was to provide an alternative way for his clients to spend their time and money – investing in the country’s art and music scenes – Retrofest is open to everyone who loves good food, good music and the great outdoors.

“We like to do things that are different and add value to the environment that we live in,” Nick explains, adding, “We’re all breakaway merchant bankers who have come together and decided that our clients need something a little bit more niche, a little more boutique and it’s been well received.

“For us, what’s important is to really tap into the essence of who our clients are. When you’re planning their wealth, and managing it within multi jurisdictions, it’s so important to understand who they are and what they want to achieve out of life. And it’s quite tongue-in-cheek, but to bring them here, to the Cradle, where life first started, let’s them do that.”
