David and Victoria Beckham have undoubtedly cemented their status as global style icons over the course of their 16-year marriage. So what do one of the most fashionable couples not have in common when it comes to their respective wardrobes? Packing.
“I’m one of the best packers you will probably ever meet,” the former footballer says in a recent interview with Condé Naste Traveller. “I’m obsessed with being ready and having everything in place. I’m very well prepared for any trip that’s coming up.”
Long story short: Victoria is the polar opposite when it comes to packing. “I have friends who take the mickey out of me for it,” he admits. “And my wife is a last-minute packer and nowhere near as organised as me!”
In all honesty David, we’re with Vicky on this one – the woman has a wardrobe we covet and we can only begin to imagine the struggle of trying to decide which incredible items of clothing to pack. That, and the fact that we’re pretty much last-minute (over) packers as well. You never know what may happen, so you need to be prepared, right?
Still, apparently Becks is standing firm in his belief that his wife doesn’t need to bring half of the things she packs anyway with one exception: if she opted for a more laid-back look, which he prefers to her incredibly stylish high-end ensembles.
“I like her wearing jeans and sneakers the best,” he shared “She wears our son’s pair of Converse sometimes. But my favourite is when she wears jeans and a pair of Stan Smiths. I think she looks really cool.”
Very cool indeed, David, she’s Victoria Beckham, she could make a plastic bag and a pair of sliders work. Alas, we’re still on Vic’s side, so Posh, keep doing you, girl!
