South African comedian Trevor Noah has officially taken over from Jon Stewart as the new host of The Daily Show. Stewart announced his retirement last month after 15 years as a host, and over the weekend the rumours started making the rounds that our favourite comedian is the first choice as the new host of the show.

“You don’t believe it for the first few hours,” 31-year-old Noah told the Times of getting his new job. “You need a stiff drink, and then unfortunately you’re in a place where you can’t really get alcohol.” (He’s currently on a comedy tour in Dubai.)

“I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor,” Mr. Stewart said in a statement. “He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with.” Mr. Stewart added that he “may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!!!”

Comedy Central also addressed the potential blowback of missing the opportunity to hire a woman to host what’s arguably their most popular program:

Michele Ganeless, the Comedy Central president, said in an interview: “We talked to women. We talked to men. We found in Trevor the best person for the job.”

In December last year, 31-year-old Noah, made his on-air contribution on the show offering his outsider’s perspective, as a biracial South Africa, on the Unites States

“I never thought I’d be more afraid of police in America than in South Africa,” he said with a smile. “It kind of makes me a little nostalgic for the old days, back home.”

After only three appearances on the show, Trevor has received a promotion from on-air contributor to host of the show. We know that we sill for certain be watching and supporting our favourite Crazy Normal comedian all the way in the USA!

Less than one week after Zayn Malik broke hearts all over the world when he made the decision to leave One Direction and go solo- as Grazia reported here- the 22-year-old now solo artist has debuted his first single.

Produced by famed UK producer Naughty Boy, Zayn’s first single is titled “I Won’t Mind”. The track is a huge departure from the One Direction sounds and instead features Malik’s soothing voice with a soft acoustic guitar and calming acoustics.

There is no denying that the boy is talented, and we prodly admit to being a fan of his first single. If this is what his solo career is going to be like, then we unashamedly will be supporting his departure from One Direction.

This isn’t the first time a member of a boy band has gone solo and been successful, Robbie Williams, Ronan Keating and Justin Timeberlake are two perfectly perfect examples of boy band members, and we have a feeling that Malik might just be one of them!

Red My Lips is an international non-profit organization. It is an annual global awareness campaign where supporters (which are called ‘Warriors’) wear red lipstick all throughout April – Sexual Assault Awareness Month – to raise awareness and funds. Red lipstick is used to create visibility, combat rape myths and victim-blaming, and demonstrate solidarity and support for survivors.

The mission is to transform our culture of sexual violence by educating, inspiring, and mobilizing a global community to red their lips, raise their voices, and create real change.

Why red lipstick?

One of the most pervasive myths about sexual violence is that it is provoked by attraction or desire. Connected with this, victims are often blamed, shamed, and forced to suffer in silence.

Given its connection with vibrant sexuality and attraction, red lipstick seems a fitting weapon with which to combat these damaging myths and victim-blaming attitudes. It gives supporters an easy (and safe) way to stand together and make the bold statement that victims are NEVER responsible for sexual violence. While we give Kim Kardashian credit for beating her previous 72-day marriage record, it was today announced that the reality star has filed for divorce from her rapper hubby, Kanye West citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.

A statement released from Kim’s camp read, “After careful consideration Kim Kardashian has decided to end her marriage to Kanye West. She hopes everyone understands this was not an easy decision. She had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. Kim assures her fans that she and Kanye remain friends for the sake of their one-year-old daughter, North West.

While news of the couple being on the rocks has plagued them since they said I Do at Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy on May 24 2014, many close to the powerhouse couple are noticeably shocked.

“We never thought Kim would have the courage to leave Kanye,” reveals one source. “She hasn’t been happy for a while now and hates that he controls everything she does. She finally snapped and told him enough is enough.”

Apparently, Kim already has her heart set on her next potential partner, and hubby number four. “When Kim Kardashian found out the news that South African local Trevor Noah was replacing Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, she fell in love,” shares another insider.

ANGELINA JOLIE ENCOURAGES KIDS TO “BE DIFFERENT”

The actress gave one of the best speeches in the history of speeches.

On Saturday night, 28 April 2015, Jolie won the award for ‘Best Villain’ for her role in Maleficent. On accepting her speech, Ange gave a truly stirring and inspiring speech that everyone, children and adults alike, should take note of.

Giuliana Rancic, E! News co-anchor and red-carpet host has released her memoir, Going Off Script, opening up about her past love with Jerry O’Connell, a relationship we new existed but which G always kept mum on.

Dishing on the relationship, the 40-year old presenter shares that the pair met at the W Hotel in San Diego and it didn’t take long before the relationship turned serious.

Giuliana expressed that she was caught off guard when she found out that the actor was two-timing her with Spice Girl, Gerri Halliwell. “I was being two-timed…?” she questions before sharing Jerry’s less-than-sincere response: “Yeah, I know. I’m so sorry. I don’t know what happened.” Wow, seriously!?

Giuliana decided to give the relationship, and Jerry, a second chance. However, it seemed that the playboy comedian had not learnt his lesson because whilst in attendance at Maxim’s 100 Hottest women Party in 2004, the now mother-of-one spotted her man getting overly familiar with Rebecca Romijn, Hollywood actress and model. “Little did I know he was in the VIP area, talking to Rebecca as a prelude to feeling [her] up”, G exposes.

Giuliana explains how not long after that, Jerry stopped taking her calls and stopped responding to any form of communication, before the Fashion Police co-host decided to pay her cheating man a visit and confront him.

His response (again, seriously!?): “Nope. Sorry, homegirl,” he said while ending the relationship for good. “Things change, but you take care, OK?”

Jerry and Rebecca ended up getting married in 2007 and have two kids together. That same year, Giuliana found her Mr. Right in Apprentice’s season 1 winner, Bill Rancic (whom we love and adore!)

Jerry O’Connell may be a comedian as well as an actor, but we don’t think he’s very funny for the way in which he treated Giuliana.

Mention of a documentary of Amy Winehouse’s life was first announced back in 2013. Titled ‘Amy: The Girl Behind the Name’ and directed by  Asif Kapadia, the documentary makes use of never-before-seen footage as well as previously unheard tracks  from the singer who was found dead at the age of 27 from a drug overdose in 2011.

The first trailer for the documentary has been released and sees a young Amy voicing her concerns about the effects of fame, saying, “I don’t think I’m going to be at all famous. I don’t think I could handle it. I would probably go mad.”

This could be the saddest thing since FRIENDS ended…our favourite couple, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, have officially broken up after a perfect 3 years together.

The saddest part of it all is the reason; distance.

Sources have revealed that Garfield who is filming in Taiwan and didn’t take a break (or put in leave like us mere mortals) from work to be on his girlfriend’s arms at the 2015 Golden Globes. Meanwhile, Emma has been putting her career on hold to be with him, but can’t anymore.

“Emma understands his work anxieties – it’s why she originally pulled out of Cabaret last year and only did it this year – but they’re taking a break from seeing each other,” a source shared. “They’re both a slave to their schedules. This time last year they were privately discussing marriage.”

In memory of what once (perfectly) was.

Sandra Bullock’s terrified 911 call was made public yesterday, as part of the court case that alleges stalker Joshua Corbett broke into the actress’s home.

The actress called the police after seeing a man in her home heading towards her attic in June last year . Sandra hid in her bedroom closet and sounded panicked and tearful as she explained the situation to the dispatcher and then guided police into and through her home.

“I’m in my closet. I have a safe door,” Sandra, breathing heavily, is heard telling the dispatcher. “I’m locked in the closet right now.” Sandra gave the dispatcher a description of the man and said she went out to investigate noises in her home. “I thought it was a wind blowing,” Sandra said. “Then I saw the person.”

The preliminary hearing for Joshua Corbett began yesterday 8 April, 2015, in Los Angeles.

A police officer testified that Joshua was clutching a black notebook with a two-page letter to Samdra and magazine photos of the actress when he was arrested.

“He said, ‘I’m sorry. I love you Sandy’,”Los Angeles police Officer Jose Bermudez testified.

It also surfaced that security footage showed Joshua outside Sandra’s gate each of the three days before his arrest.

The Proposal actress is not set to testify at 39-year-old Joshua’s preliminary hearing, during which the judge will be determining whether or not there is enough susbstantial evidence against Joshua to go to trial.

In addition, Corbett is also charged with having a stash of illegal weapons which police found when searching his home after his arrest, inclusive of: assault weapons, tracer ammunition, and machine guns. He has pleaded not-guilty to all charges.

We’re just glad that Sandra is ok, and that her son, Lois, was not home at the time of the incident, and that Joshua was not armed at the time of the break-in.

Her name is Bibi Bourelly, she’s 20 years old, born in Germany and to put it lightly, we’re obsessed.

KIM AND KHLOE TAKE ARMENIA

Kim and younger sister Khloe have made the great trek to their ancestral homeland of Armenia, to celebrate their Armenian heritage which is gearing up to mark the 100^th anniversary of the genocide on April 24.

Joining Khloe and Kim and the trip is Kim’s hubby, Kanye, and daughter North.

On landing in the capital Yerevan, the Kardashians were greeted by young women bearing bread and salt, which is a traditional custom to welcome guests as well as an extra-large adoring crowd to welcome the reality stars.

The pair have been doing some sight seeing, visiting family (they have three kousins whose names also start with a ‘K’) and also making a trip to see the Prime Minister.

ANNA KENDRIK REFUSES TO BE SEXY AND WE LOVE HER FOR IT

Anna Kendrick, 29, revealed that the reason she refused to be sexy, as directed by studio execs, was based on the fact that her character, Beca Mitchell, is a “badass” and not a ‘bimbo’.

But Kendrick refused to do so, on the basis that her character Beca Mitchell is a “badass”, rather than a bimbo.

The Queen of Pop, 56, made out with the rapper, 28, during his Coachella set this past weekend, and did not seem impressed. Like, at all. Madge joined Drake onstage to finish performing ‘Madonna’-the track from his 2015 mix tape “If you’re reading this, it’s too late’.

Madge performed a medley of her own tracks including: ‘Human Nature’, ‘Hung Up’ and ‘B**** I’m Madonna’. It was during her last song that Madge kissed Drake while he sat on a chair, he flailed his arms about and then wiped his mouth with a rather repulsive look on his face. Madonna’s reaction? “B****, I’m Madonna” and walked away like the Queen of Pop that she is.

From meeting the Prime Minister to visiting national heritage sites, the Kardashians are taking over their ancestral country, and snaps of their trip have been splashed all over their social media platforms.

Yesterday, after a quick trip to Jerusalem in Israel, Kim posted pics of their arrival at the Cathedral of St. James with North wearing a long white dress. It was later revealed that 1-year-old North was baptised in a religious ceremony at the Cathedral, which is in the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem.

Kim also divulged that she and Kanye have asked her younger sister, Khloé, to be Nori’s godmother!

Khloé, who is already godmother to older sister Kourtney’s eldest, Mason, is a natural with children, so we’re thrilled to hear that she was asked to be North’s godparent too. We can’t wait for the day that Khloé has kids of her own – we’re positive she’ll make a great mom as she sure has a lot of practice!

Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is set for release in SA 24 April 2015.

“We wanted the first Avengers film to be big, but for this film I wanted it to bigger, but I also wanted it to be broader and more global,” says Joss Whedon. “We wanted to look at The Avengers and see the effect they have on the whole world.

We got the team together in the first film, which seemed sort of an impossible task. But then the question becomes ‘Well, once they’re together are they compatible and are they useful and how does the world perceive them?’

With the production in pre-production in London, the first order of business was a three-week shoot in Johannesburg, South Africa. The cityscape and surrounding areas would provide the backdrop for one of the biggest action sequences in the film involving Iron Man and The Hulk.

“Johannesburg has a very particular look and style to its architecture that I really liked,” says Joss Whedon. “It has very much its own rhythm, its own feel, its own tones, and there’s an earthiness to the way it looks. It is very different from the other locations we shot. You know immediately you’re not in North America.”

In January 2014, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” descended upon the Johannesburg CBD – look out for the Johannesburg skyline as well as amazing inner-city action in key sequences!
