Bonang Matheba hosted the BET International Global Glitz & Glam stage at BET Awards this past Sunday, June 26.
The Top Billing presenter interviewed guests: Tracey Ellis Ross, Gabrielle Union, Yaz from Empire, singer Maya, actor Nate Parker from the highly anticipated movie Birth of a Nation, Tia Mowry and Jidenna, along with South African celebrities Nomzamo Mbatha, Ricky Rick and AKA:
According to Life & Style that got the exclusive scoop, the real reason Iggy ended her engagement with basketball player Nick Young is because he got his ex-girlfriend Keonna Green pregnant – again! Nick and Keonna already have a four-year-old son together, Nick Jr.
“Nick waited until Keonna was four months pregnant to tell Iggy the news,” an insider reveals, adding that he told her “He was drunk and had a lapse in judgement.”
“He said it was a one-night stand and will never happen again,” the insider explains. “But it’s too late. He is having another son!”
When the mag reportedly approached Keonna for comment on June 21 and asked if the pregnancy was unplanned for her and Nick, she replied “yes”, then immediately said, “No comment.” Yikes!
Iggy was reportedly supportive of Nick and Keonna’s relationship because they share a child together and ignored the rumours until she found out about the second pregnancy.
Iggy, we hope you don’t take him back. Cheaters: ain’t nobody got time for that!
This past Sunday, June 26, Lady Gaga met with the Dalai Lama at the US Conference of Mayors in Indianapolis for a talk called “The Global Significance of Building Compassionate Cities: Kindness Makes it Happen”.

But this did not seem to sit well with China. According to Hong Kong’s pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily, the propaganda department in China’s communist party has now reportedly issued “an important instruction” to have her music banned in the country.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei refused to comment on the claims, but he did say: “The purpose of the Dalai Lama’s visits and activities in other countries is just to promote his proposal for Tibetan independence. We hope that people from the international community can be fully aware of his true colours and nature.”
On page 9 of this week’s issue of Grazia (#GoGetYourGrazia) in our ‘Week That Was…’ section we mention how DA leader Mmusi Maimane gave a real message of hope when he addressed a packed auditorium at the London School of Economics, the DA leader gave a speech on Protecting South Africa’s Fragile Democracy, where he spoke about how African countries first need liberation, and then to be liberated from the liberators.
It’s not something you see every day: a beautiful, young woman walking the streets of the Joburg CBD in traditional Ndebele attire. When Serena Williams beat German tennis player Annika Beck in the third round of Wimbledon on Sunday, it marked her 300th Grand Slam victory.
Serena beat Beck 6-3, 6-0, which now puts her just behind Martina Navratilova, who won 306 Grand Slams, and in front of Chris Evert who has a total of 299 wins.
According to Forbes, Serena is the highest-paid female athlete with her prize winnings and endorsements for the past 12 months totalling $28.9 million (R431.4 million).
During her match with Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova on Monday, Serena threatened to sue Wimbledon for not closing the centre court roof as it was drizzling, making the grass slippery. When umpire Marija Cicak came down from her chair to discuss the situation with both players, Serena was heard stating that she was going to fall and asked that the roof be closed. Marija’s response was inaudible, but then Serena said, “If I get hurt, I’m suing.”
Due to both players complaining about the slippery conditions and Serena’s threat, the match was suspended at 5-5 for the roof to be closed.
After winning the match, Serena made light of the comment saying that it was not meant to be taken seriously. “What I say on the court, whether it’s smashing my rackets, it’s in the heat of the moment,” she said.

“We’re talking about potentially doing something,” said Ray’s business manager David Weintraub said to Heat magazine. He added that Kanye “can’t continue to use people’s likeness without either compensation or clearance.
“We haven’t really worked anything out. There were discussions but they’re getting old, so our legal team is working out what we want to do with everything.”

He then spoke about his growth as an artist, saying that the world “Wants to hear what South Africa and Africa has to offer.” Later, when DJ Sway probed into the Cassper topic again, AKA simply said that they were “too similar”, but reassures everyone that him and Cassper are cool. Let’s not lie – we are obsessed with Snapchat! Those filters are life, and thanks to celebs like Kylie Jenner, who has helped popularise the app, those flower crowns and doggy faces are now being seen on all social media platforms. One of the best things about Snap was the simplicity and authenticity of it – you post your story as something happens and then it gets deleted after 24 hours.
Alas, bad news on the Snap front you guys… thanks to a new algorithmic change, Snapchat has now rolled out “Memories” (like the “see your memories today” on FB), which is allowing you to save your pics within the app, as well as upload your old pics and vids to your story. We think this will destroy the best things about Snapchat – the rawness and realness (albeit with filters). What makes Snapchat different from Instagram or Facebook now?
The other factor that made Snapchat fun and exciting was the feeling of not missing out on what the people you follow are doing – Kourtney in Miami or those adorable snaps of North, seeing what my friends’ opinions are on current events.
Computer website Gizmodo best describes our feelings: “Stories [RN] are spontaneous. They feature a cute dog you saw walking down the street, or some blurry footage from a drunken night out. Now, people are going to upload only the best, most polished snaps to their story.”
According to the site, the reason for this change is *dum dum dum* advertising. “With the ability to upload more content to stories, Snapchat will now have more surface area to show more ads. Dumbass attempts to increase ad revenue has helped screw a lot of other once great tech products, so the ruin of Snapchat was always inevitable. The company actually broke from the ephemeral model three years ago, when it started selling replays for $1,” continues Gizmodo.
And so, we say farewell to the enthralling essence of yet another magical app.
Make sure to #GoGetYourGrazi, turn straight to page 38 of the issue and read Sandiso Ngubane’s article on how Snapchat is changing the influencer and media game.
More than ever before, the continuous tragedies of losing black lives in America can no longer be ignored – nor continue.
After a praise-worthy and necessary speech at the BET Awards on #blacklivesmatter by actor Jesse Williams, Queen Bey has now taken her dance moves and lyrics from Formation and channelled them into a perfectly constructed open letter, which she posted to her website. In her letter, Bey calls for action in response to the increasing police brutality, as well as the most recent deaths ofAlton Sterling and Philando Castile.
(Image: Instagram/Beyonce)
“We are sick and tired of the killings of young men and women in our communities. It is up to us to take a stand and demand that they stop killing. We don’t need sympathy. We need everyone to respect our lives. We’re going to stand up as a community and fight against anyone who believes that murder or any violet action by those who are sworn to protect us should consistently go unpunished,” she wrote.
“These robberies of lives make us feel helpless and hopeless, but we have to believe that we are fighting for the rights of the next generation, for the next young men and women who believe in good. This is a human fight. No matter your race, gender or sexual orientation. This is a fight for anyone who feels marginalised, who is struggling for freedom and human rights. This is not a plea to all police officers but towards any human being who fails to value life.
“The war on people of colour and all minorities needs to be over. Fear is not an excuse. Hate will not win. We all have the power to channel our anger and frustration into action. We must use our voices to contact the politicians and legislators in our districts and demand social and judicial changes. While we pray for the families of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, we will also pray for an end to this plague of injustice in our communities.”
Beyoncé ended her letter by asking people to click on the post to contact politicians and legislators in their area. “Your voice will be heard,” she writes.
The songstress – who is currently on her Formation world tour – also stopped her Glasgow show to have a moment of silence in respect of those who have lost their lives due to police brutality. During her moment of silence, a projection appeared behind her with the names of the victims, including Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner and Freddie Gray, and she had the moment end with the words “and countless others”.

SAINT WEST STEALS THE SHOW
On Sunday, Kim Kardashian pulled a Chrissy Teigen and cooked some good food for a few of her and hubby Kanye West’s closest friends. The food Kimmy prepared? Fried chicken, biscuits, sweet potato soufflé and more – clearly worthy of #SoulFoodSunday.
“We are going to do a cooking thing on my app,” Kim shared on Snapchat, before asking her guests what they thought of her skills in the kitchen.
But the real star of the show wasn’t the food (sorry, Kim!) it was the guest appearance of Saint West! How adorable is he?

Boity slams Cassper reunion rumours
Though rumours of Boity Thulo and Cassper Nyovest reuniting have done the rounds recently, Boity made it clear that they will not be an item again in an interview with Drum magazine. “We can’t go according to what people would like. It’s not like we hate each other or are enemies. We have explained the reasons for the break-up, but we are still friends,” said the starlet.

ANDY MURRAY AND SERENA WILLIAMS: WIMBLEDON 2016 CHAMPIONS
On Saturday, Serena Williams, 34, basically broke the internet when she was crowned the winner of the 2016 Wimbledon ladies’ singles final, which saw her take home the title for the 7th time and achieve her 22nd Grand Slam title (a record previously held by Steffi Graf). We have seen Instagram selfie trends come and go, and some (like the pout) stay forever. The newest selfie style on the block? Finger mouthing. Thanks to the youngest sibling of the Kardashian-Jenner clan who started posing with her fingers by her mouth, the trend has now taken off and can be seen in selfies everywhere. Don’t believe us? Check out other celebs posing the same way. And we won’t lie, we’re guilty of pulling this look too #noshame.
This week in Grazia, we get the co-founder of fashion and music blog Gold Creatures to take an exclusive selfie and reveal all. While you’re on your way to #GoGetYourGrazia, here are some of our favourite street style moments from Keagan Carlin…

How would you describe your signature style?
Simple, classic and maybe even a little boyish. I like being comfy, so sneakers and sports luxe are my every day get-up, but I love to glam it up for events and evenings out.
Who are your local and international style icons?
Locally, I would have to say that Bonang Matheba is pretty on point when it comes to style – she always looks incredible! Internationally, it’s definitely Margaret Zhang.
What five products never leave your handbag?
My five billion lip balms – my lips are always dry. Hand lotion for Jozi winters. Liquid eyeliner because I wear a cat eye every day, and somehow it always rubs off. Nail strengthener, a weird one but necessary. And, lastly, my foundation. Glowing skin equals confidence for me!
What’s your favourite app?
VSCO. It’s my absolute best for simple photo editing. My camera has wi-fi, so for a quick Instagram I download it directly to my phone, edit it in VSCO and it’s up in 2 minutes.
Whose shoes would you like to live in for a day?
From a blogger/photographer point of view, definitely Margaret Zhang. She’s on form at the moment and she gets to work with the most incredible people in the industry. I feel like I’d learn a lot being her for a day.
